Be Safe Online-Chandigarh Steps up in Cyber Security

DSD InfoSec, a local Information Security startup formed to combat cyber criminals - have announced their SkySight product designed to provide realtime visibility to attacks & attackers and aid better defense. SkySight is a unique combination of a network sensor, a cloud-based Security Information & Event Management system and a mobile Security Operations Console.

On the community front last year, Chandigarh Chapters of NULL and OWASP started the Be Safe Online program designed to empower people with safe online behaviours; to spread awareness and equip people with the necessary skills. More than a dozen talks have been held on Online Safety related subjects. Several technical sessions on secure coding are also being conducted on a regular basis for IT companies of the region under this program.

This year, this program has been strengthened by Global Shapers Chandigarh Hub (GSC) and DSD InfoSec. GSC plans to increase the reach and adoption of this program through its campaigns in schools and colleges. Meanwhile, DSD have developed a mobile app Be Safe Online (available on Android and iOS) for the program. Released today, this free app gives people access to carefully curated security tips. Users can also share these tips on social media; as well as seek security advice from a team of experts from NULL/OWASP and DSD. As the world's focus on cyber security increases, initiatives like this could propel Chandigarh as a leader in Information Security, and result in increased business to local IT as well as non-IT companies.
